Tesco Charity Hunt in conjunction with reopening of Tesco extra in Mutiara Damansara

To celebrate the opening of the new Tesco extra at Mutiara Damansara, I was invited to participate in an Explorace/ Amazing Race style game in Tesco at their official launch. It was a fun event and experience with us girls, myself and Charlene on one team and the boys, Sherson and Alvin on another team. We had to do a variety of tasks and us girls almost won, but we couldn't find the capsicum !!! aaargh ! I could try and claim that they cheated somehow, but they won fair and square. :)

However, us girls did not go home empty handed. We still won RM 5000 in Tesco vouchers which we are to use to buy items for Tesco for whatever charities we are passionate about. Wooooo hooooo ! YAY !

One charity that I am passionate about is PAWS in Subang. So I gave them a call and asked them what do they need. With a list in hand and with my brother, Shakeil coming along with me to help, we headed to Tesco ready to shop.

All the items we bought were cleaning items and the guy at the checkout asked,
'Ini semua untuk rumah ke?' (Are these all for a house?)

I pointed to my brother and replied
'Ya, rumah dia. Dah sepuluh tahun dia tak bersihkan rumah'
(yes, for him, he hasn't cleaned his house in ten years.)

hahahahahahahahahahahahah! I think he believed me so I then
explained why we were really buying so many cleaning products.

So we packed up the car and headed straight to Subang where the staff helped us bring all the items in.
And my brother said hello to all the cats. :)

A big thank you to Tesco for giving me this opportunity to support charities close to my heart with your generosity. I still have some more vouchers and more will benefit from my purchases. We will be shopping again very soon!! The new Tesco is really nice and big and spacious. Can't wait to go back!

Gangnam style at Karnival Nusajaya

At the recent Karnival Nusajaya held in Johor, I was there to participate in the activities in the NTV7 and 8TV  booth. As you can see in this video I captured while I was there, some of the kids who participated in the activities held in the booth, really got into the 'gangnam style' spirit of things.

It was a lot of fun watching them enjoy themselves.

Recording audio books at the Malaysian Association for the Blind

As part of my research for an upcoming episode of Magseven, I visited the Malaysian Association for the Blind and learnt so much. While I was there I saw a little area which they use as a recording studio where volunteers come in and record their voices reading whatever is given to them onto this computer which is then used by people who visit the Association's library.

I volunteered some of my time yesterday and read a whole chapter from an STPM text book. Took me two hours to complete it. But it was worth it to me. A very humbling experience as it made me realise how much i take my pretty much perfect eyesight for granted.

As I was talking to the PR staff, Siti, who lost her eyesight gradually from the age of four years old, she suggested I give to their librarian a soft copy of my book in Microsoft word format and they can convert it into a braille book so that it can be added to their library. I am very excited at the thought of my Dansa book being converted into a book that the blind can read. I never thought about doing this before and I am so grateful that I visited them now.

Now I just need to find the Microsoft word version of my book. I hope it's on my laptop somewhere. :)

Go for it !

Someone posted this on facebook and I love it....
So true ! So go for it ! I must remember to do that too.

"Don't let haters bring you down. They have no idea what you're capable of accomplishing. Either ignore their words or let it fuel your motivation, whatever works. Unfortunately, haters are always going to exist and the more successful you become, the more haters you'll attract. That's just how it is.
Haters are people who are absolutely terrified of the thought of failing if they attempt to go for their dreams. So instead of manning up and going for it anyway, they spend their time tearing other people down in hopes that other people's failure will make them feel better about their lack of courage.

Refuse to let their fear and mental weakness stop you from creating the life you want to experience. Let them spend the rest of the ONE life that they have living in fear, jealousy and resentment. You've got things to do. You've got legacy to create. And when you achieve your dreams, you'll have people thanking you for inspiring them and giving them the courage to achieve theirs." - Christopher Villa

Kinki Ryusaki in Body Art episode of Magseven

Just recently I met Kinki Ryusaki, a very unique character who turns heads wherever she goes. With her long hair and tattoos, she is unforgettable and has made a name for herself in the local tattoo industry and a huge fan base. Have a look at her facebook page and you will see what I mean.

She works at a shop named Bloody Ink at Sungai Wang in KL and it's always busy in there. She is one of the characters featured in the upcoming episode of magseven titled Body Art airing on NTV7 on
18th Sept 2012 7.30pm.

Here are some pics of the her tattoos.

And these pics were taken while we were shooting her at work in her tattoo studio.

Don't miss this episode ! Kinki shares some really funny stories such as when a client who asked to have armpit hair tattooed into his armpits cause he felt he didn't look man enough with what he had.  We were also a little worried that this episode might not be approved by the Malaysian censorship board but it has been and so now I'm looking forward to seeing it on air.

Britney Spears learns how to dance Gangnam Style

I found this video today and wanted to share it cause I think it's so cute watching both Britney Spears and Ellen trying to do Psy's Gangnam Style dance routine and I'm surprised that Ellen actually does it way better than Britney !

Gangnam / Kampung Style

This Korean song Gangnam Style has become such a hit and has inspired many parodies. From what I understand, the original song is actually 'making fun' of the lifestyle of those who live in Gangnam in Korea. Click here to read an article explaining it.

I knew it wouldn't take long for Malaysians to catch onto this and sure enough, my friends over at Fly Fm radio have come up with their own version and very suitably named their version 'Kampung Style' !

Have a laugh... :)

Anna Dello Russo for H&M

Anyone who has walked around Bukit Bintang area in KL will see that the whole main entrance of Lot  10 shopping centre is currently closed up and being renovated for the arrival of H&M. YAAAAYY!! I have wondered for the longest time why hasn't H&M arrived in Malaysia yet? Well by the end of this month it will have arrived ! Yahoo !

Besides the general stuff they will have at H&M what I cannot wait to arrive is the Anna Dello Russo for H&M collection !!! This larger than life fashion character who loves over accessorising has created an accessories collection which is according to online sources supposed to be launched worldwide on October 4th.

I CANNOT WAIT to see it. I hope I don't want one of everything. I will be so broke ! Bankrupt !

Here is a quick video about her inspirations for the collection.

A fashion pop music video which she has done to launch it.

And the turquoise suitcase set in the first photo is supposed to be part of the collection too.

I really hope it's as great as I think it's going to be.

Victoria's Secret has arrived in KL !

When I heard the brand name I think of the Supermodels who wear wings during the show, the colour pink and very girly, pretty stuff. Last night I attended the launch of the new Victoria Secret store at Pavillion and I loved it.

The stock in the stores is mainly beauty and accessories with items such as perfumes, make up bags and a selection of underwear.

My little boy who came with me to the event kept looking at all the colourful underwear. Wait my boy. You can find out about all that much later. Hahahahahahahahahahah.... He did want to have his picture taken with Malaysian supermodel Amber Chia. Can so tell Amber is a mummy too from how comfortable she was carrying him.

My absolute favourite collection though was everything in leopard print. They had make up bags in all kinds of shapes and sizes and I really wish I could have bought one of EVERYTHING leopard print from the store.

The little cupcakes with the Victoria's Secret initials and chocolate covered strawberries made to look like tuxedos were so cute ! It's little details like this that I notice and love.

Well after scratching my head and wondering which of the leopard print items I wanted, I chose one of the tote bags because I think it's a really sexy, easy to carry bag which can fit all of my baby's stuff in it too when we go out, an ipad cover and a travel adaptor that comes in a leopard print casing. These items also come in other patterns. The travel adaptor also comes in a cool black sequinned case. For those of you ladies who travel a lot, this is a must buy ! Convenient, pratical and in a super stylish case. I wish I had this when I was travelling so much the past few years !

And the door gift was this beautiful bottle of perfume. I adore the vintage style design and my sister and I were posing pretending to be Hollywood starlets like Greta Garbo and Grace Kelly, squirting on their perfume before leaving their home. Just the act of squeezing this perfume like this feels so glamourous.

Victoria's Secret is now open at The Pavillion and One Utama. Check it out during your next visit !

My latest painting

I have wanted to do another painting for a while now but never seem to get a chance to do it. So on Sunday, I got out my box of paints and brushes (which my little boy found VERY interesting) and started to paint.

I started by painting the background all black. And then painted the silhoutte of the face. Then slowly started adding small dots to create very colourful abstract 'hair' or a 'head piece' for the face.

Then ended by adding the 'star' in the bottom left hand corner.

Finished ! Completed ! So satisfied !

If you are wondering where the inspiration to do this painting came from, a friend of mine said to me recently 'before a king receives his crown, he is humbled and bows his head first'

I kept thinking about it for days and I kept getting this image in my head,
so I thought to myself 'I must paint it'.
