The Red Kebaya - promo and premiere

The day has finally arrived! The Red Kebaya will premiere tonight at KLCC.

I'm feeling a bit better today as compared to last night. Throat not as sore and fever has gone down. Still coughing though.. I had to take MC from work today so using what precious time I have before the premiere tonight to rest... I know there are going to be plenty of photographers there and looking bad is just not an option...

Leading up to any movie, there is of course promotion and on Sunday 19th November I went with the movie's promo team to KL Sentral and Bukit Bintang Monorail to give a pair of tickets to watch the movie to some lucky people if they could tell me the password... what's the password? the website.. www.theredkebaya.com However to qualify, the must be wearing or carrying something red.. eg red bag, red top, pants.. anything...

So off we went... it was fun.. some people seemed overwhelmed by the sudden attention from us if they were wearing something red... but of course, they were happy to win... we gave away ten pairs of tickets and here are pics of some the winners...

now, i have to start getting all my things together for tonight... don't want to forget anything!!! and keep drinking plenty of water to flush out the annoying 'things' that are making me ill....

sigh...

i have this tendency to work, work, work and go, go, go and forget that it does catch up with you eventually. well now it has...

sore throat, chesty cough, fever....

quick run down of what's been happening...

after songket launch, as I wrote in earlier blog, I was involved in KL Fashion week where I modelled for Richard Tsen on the launch night on Saturday 11th of November and during his full fashion show on tuesday 14th November, also had TV3 open house on Monday 13th November, the TV3 esr department open house on Tuesday after Richard's show. Also went to the closing of KL Fashion Week on Wednesday. Started to attend theBroadcast Presenters Course which was Thursday - Saturday then did promotions for Red Kebaya at the monorail train station on Sunday. Come Monday morning, I start to feel ill but I can't take a day off to just stay at home and lie in bed cause I have a makeover shoot at L'Oreal in conjunction with this year's Anugerah Juara Lagu. When I went to go to the bathroom to change into clothes for shoot after hair and make up, I threw up... yeah, gross... got it over and done with then got dressed and carried on with shoot. Back to office I went to see the doctor. Vitamins and rest... what? rest? ha ha ha.. no time..
once all is done there, off to prepare for the nights charity event with The Red Kebaya movie for Rising Above. I felt better but was starting to wonder how sick I was going to get...

Now I know... woke up this morning to feel that my throat is on fire. still went to work but didn't really talk to anybody cause my voice just couldn't do anything. now fever is starting, muscles aching and eyes are sore...

this is SO NOT GOOD! Tomorrow is premiere for the red kebaya!!!!

I have this beautiful peacock blue dress to wear and I WANT TO WEAR IT!

Must rest.. must rest...

Rest of the week busy too.. Broadcast Presenters Course is to continue then more promotions for the movie...

bear with me... promise to put up pictures of all the events once I can sit down and load everything..

Songket

Friday - 10th November

I go to work and start to make sure I have everything i need for the big event I am part of in Putrajaya. It's a songket related event and TV3 personalities were in attendance as we were to present songket on stage. I leave Sri Pentas with four other people involved in the event, and it took us almost 2 hours to get there when realy it could have taken us only 45 minutes at the most. why? our driver got lost!

Sigh!

Nevermind, we finally got there and the ballroom looked vey grand with huge material draped throughout. time for a rehearsal. us tv3 personalities were to walk out on stage individually with the songket elegantly draped over our arms. that took some practice..

rehearsal done, hair and make up... lovely TV3 make up artist Mupinder did beautiful make up for me in record time! about half and hour. My hair took forever though! I couldn't figure what they were doing. I was expecting some ornate hair do with the amount of time it was taking. but at the end of an hour of sitting and having my hair pulled, twisted, hair sprayed and pinned, from the front it looked totally simple to me!!! What took SO LONG?! My colleagues then proceeded to tell me that the back look gorgeous ... very detailed. So of course when I found Mahazir, the tv3 photographer, I asked him to take a picture...
hmmm... without the flowers, it still looks like it should have taken a lot less time. When I touched it, I began to dread how long it would take to take all the hair pins out come through the hair spray when I got home at night.

anyway, it's all about the overall look right? So here is a front picture...

The function was very grand. Just to prove how grand, our Prime Minister and his Deputy were in attendance.
I love looking at what people wear. It gives me ideas on what to do and what not to do with my own wardrobe! As always, there were people who were over dressed, beautifully dressed, under dressed, badly dressed and I saw someone wear a beautiful armani top I would love. I tried it on in the boutique a few weeks and it looks gorgeous but alas, the price tag would not allow me to buy it... sob sob!

Whenever I do a show, my greatest fear is actually falling over flat onto my face.... well, none of us did that.... phew!

Once our duties were done and the event was over, time to return our clothes to the wardrobe assistants and make our way back to TV3 in the tv3 van. As everyone else started to fall asleep (it was well after midnight!) I began the tedious task of taking out my hair pins and flowers in my hair. 32 hair pins in total. I counted.... my hair then resembled a bird's nest.

it took me two hours to prepare for bed. I'm very diligent and thorough about removing make up and any hair spray/ gel from myself before bed after event. Realistically, none of it is good for you....

however, i knew this was not the last of hair spray and hair pin madness I would face....

my fashion catwalk 'debut'!

I never thought this would EVER happen but this week I was involved in KL Fashion Week and had the opportunity to actually walk the catwalk for designer Richard Tsen!

I've always admired models. They look so graceful and ethereal as they glide down catwalks wearing to die for gowns..... Some so beautiful I might sell Skitso for them!

I haven't received all the photos taken of me on the catwalk yet, but they are coming! In the meantime though, please go to www.staronair.com click on KL Fashion Week and you will see a list of videos from this event. I'm featured in 3 videos on this site. One, I'm being interviewed with Marion Caunter however they didn't write my name, they just wrote 'Marion and model'. The second one I'm in is of Richard's fashion show. And the last one is in the video of the launch night.

I doubt you will recognise me. I don't even recognise myself! In the video of Richard's show, it starts of with a short performance by a diva and I'm the first 'model' out after that performance. Wearing red dress, with gold belt and later in the same video, I come out wearing a fully purple sequinned dress with fur like trim at the bottom.

There is SO much to write, like what REALLY happens back stage, what I've learnt, and lots of photos... bear with me.. it's all coming... view the videos first!
