Sailor theme party !

For my son's very first birthday party, my family and I invited close friends and family to a sailor themed party. My sister and I as well as two close friends did all the arrangements and decorations. I bought a lot of items for the party from Tesco. My little boy's t shirt, pants and shoes as well as the mugs which we used as door gifts with chocolates inside, coloring pencils, banquet tables, toys as gifts for the children.....all from Tesco. I painted that big anchor which we hung on the wall, the red flags my friend kindly gave to me as they were leftover from an event he had, shells were decorations which we already had... So we didn't have to spend too much money to achieve this look. The beautiful cupcakes and personalized chocolate wrappers were made by my friend, colleague and co host on The Breakfast Show, Satira Diana through her cake and decorations business called Pearl Cakes Events. Can find more pictures on her Facebook page . The main birthday cake is from Coffee Bean. So if you ever want to do a sailor theme party, hopefully these pictures will inspire you. :)

Pa & Ma magazine - February issue

My baby Ghibran and I did a photo shoot at Tesco recently and the photos and article is now out in the February issue of Pa & Ma magazine. Ghibran was a very good boy. He smiled for the camera and was very professional for a little baby. Proud mummy ! :)

Happy Birthday My Baby G !!

My little boy is now one years old. Sob ! Growing so fast ! To celebrate my sister and I made this fruit 'cake' for the children at his day care centre. I didn't want to send a sugary cake for all the children there. I would have felt so guilty. So we made a 'cake' out of watermelon, kiwi fruit and grapes. It's not actually that hard to do. Just need to cut the watermelon and the smaller one put on top and to hold everything in place use toothpicks and the long sticks.

Abstract turbans

As I walked past the British India store at one Utama I saw the mannequins wearing these gorgeous abstract turbans or headpieces. Couldn't figure it how they did it though. I'm sure they used wires somehow to get the shape.

I've got my eye in...

Tesco is having their Chinese new year super savers and when I went through the advert in the newspaper and the brochure , I have my eye on these two good buys - banquet tables that fold away easily and the little onesies for kids. Currently not in stock but by end of this week hopefully they would have re stocked. Can't wait !

Stocking up

Stopped by Tesco to get some stuff for baby and no matter how hard I tried, he would not sit in the front part where babies are supposed to sit ! He wanted to just sit in the main area of the trolley and he was very happy to sit there and watch everything passing by. So as a result I couldn't buy as many groceries as I needed to but nevermind. As usual every time I walk past the babyland section I see some super cute clothes and spotted these handsome little onesies. :) they are now part of his wardrobe.

Your rock star !

Fun and cute children's bodysuit from Tesco.

China blue and porcelain prints

Blue is one of my favourites colours. I've even painted walls in my house that colour. And I love the elegance in what I call porcelain prints - because it's like the patterns you see on those gorgeous European and Chinese blue and white plates and vases. This silk fabric I bought its a nice combination of both. Now just thinking what kind of top to design with this material. Hmmmm

Very baby unfriendly !

I saw this shirt at Zara recently and gasped. Oh my !! This is one of the most baby unfriendly things I have ever seen ! With the spikes on the shoulders, I could never wear something like this ! Makes me realise before I let anyone carry my baby, I will check what are they wearing first ! I don't dare buy any of the shoes that have spikes in them either ! Aargh! Scary !

On my wish list - classic baroque design Versace scarf

I have always loved loved LOVED the classic baroque patterns that featured on everything Versace and it is the brands most iconic print. I was very sad when he died after being heartlessly shot because I hoped that somehow someday I would get a chance to meet him. There has been a big revival in baroque style patterns and prints, Dolce & Gabbana's latest collection features fantastic patterns. It seems Stella McCartney will also be doing a brocade heavy collection sometime this year. Great news for me! But also means I have to start saving up my shopping budget !

MAC Fabulousness collection

MAC is one of my absolute favourite brand of cosmetics. I remember first hearing about it many years ago from Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina when I was doing shows with her. At the time, MAC wasn't even available in Malaysia yet. Now MAC is easily purchased in several shopping centres in Malaysia. I always look forward to the special collections they come up with. One of their most recent ones - Fabulousness - comes in really nice boudoir style casings which can also be used as clutches ! I really love the design of this , I think it's very chic, and the colours will suit most skin tones. There are eyeshadow sets, lip sets, brush sets... The one I have featured here is the sinfully chic face kit. This set contains warm bronze powder blush, neutral nude cream lipstick, a shimmery with light gold lip gloss, black liner and powder / blusher brush. There are two other sets called Divine Desire Quite Coral and Paramour Pink but I felt for me the colours in this set are most practical and natural. I really liked the brush sets too, waiting for a chance to go back and get a set. Good make up brushes are a very good investment. Buy the best you can afford, and you will have them for many many years. The make up artists at MAC are also very good and give very good advice. If you are ever not sure what to get, just ask. Happy shopping at MAC!

My latest runway piece

Latest addition to my very humble runway piece collection. The striped hat as seen in the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2012 runway show. Stylish, classic and chic. And managed to buy it on 60% discount on outnet.com. Last one ! I love the clothes in this collection but alas, way over budget for me !

Matching !

I found the little kids Indian style top so then asked if they have the same colour scheme one in my size. And they did ! So now we have matching tops ! Woohoo!

One of my most unique bags

I saw this while shopping around in Penang and as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to get it and hoped it wasn't too expensive. Love at first sight for sure. It's a handbag which luckily my phone can fit into and it looks like an oversized Christmas decoration. Even when I'm not using it I'm not going to keep it in the cupboard. Going to put it somewhere I can see it. Just to admire it. :)

Indian style earrings.

I have always loved Indian style Jewellery. Well to be completely honest not just their Jewellery but also their sarees and embroidered clothes. I have a continuously growing collection of Jewellery and these earrings are my latest additions.

Happy happy new year !

Wishing all of you a very happy new year ! I only have one new year resolution this year - to love and accept every moment as it comes, whether I think it's good or bad, and carry on gracefully.

May all your wishes and prayers come true.

Cool car pencil boxes at Tesco

While I was shopping at Tesco recently, I saw all the items and goodies for going back to school. It brought back many memories to me of how every year before going back to school, there was a lot of thought put into which pencil box and school bag to choose to buy. Because we were all in school uniform , the only way to express out identity or 'level of coolness ' was with our choice of pencil box , school bag and watch. The pop swatch was THE coolest watch to have when I was in school. EVERYONE I was friends with in school wanted a pop swatch or a swatch watch for their birthday. And whoever did get one was the envy of everyone in the class when they wore it to school. I remember I saved up for months and months for my pop swatch and it was very funny when a few of my team mates who are on the magseven team (our show on NTV7) all have the same memories of what was cool in school and were telling each other what kind of watches, bags and pencil boxes we had. So when I saw these really cool car pencil boxes in four different colours at Tesco, I bought all of them! If I was still in school I would have begged my mum or dad to buy these for me. In a way made me realise how much older i am now when i paid for them myself. I did give the red one to my magseven team mate Nazrul just cause I knew he would love it and he does. Now I keep my eyeliners and lip liners and small eyeshadows in them. Hahahahahahaha! Do you remember what kind of pencil box you had in school ?
