Sneak peek of dress for red carpet at Bella Awards this Saturday!

I haven't done red carpet in a long time and this Saturday is the very first Bella awards and I am so excited ! I'm wearing a custom made hand painted dress by an upcoming local Malaysian designer. Here is a sneak peek of the detail of the dress. Don't forget to watch Bella Awards this Saturday on NTV7 at 9pm!

My Baby G clothes on Buggy Baby Boogie

Now this is something I never thought I would do. I have designed a very limited collection of baby boy clothes using cotton batik material and they are currently stocked exclusively on www.buggybabyboogie.com.

I do have plans to do more, but in the meantime, click here to go to the page and if you have a little boy or know of someone who has, I can promise you they will look very handsome and be comfortable in these outfits. I designed them based on my personal experience of what I like on my baby Ghibran and of course, practicality ! There are buttons at the bottom so you can change nappies easily and they are easy to wash. Just throw in the washing machine and they are fine.

There are a few different colours but each piece is unique. No two are exactly the same.

Have fun shopping !

The perfect gentleman by Imran Ahmad

This morning on the breakfast show I had the privilege of interviewing Imran Ahmad, author of the book The Perfect Gentleman. He really is a gentleman and after reading his book I also know he is a hopeless romantic, learnt unconditional love from an animal (a rabbit to be precise), would love to be like James Bond ( I am guessing he has an enviable gentleman's wardrobe - classic but sharp suits and crisp shirts and elegant ties with shiny shoes) and his spiritual journey that he shares is insightful. I am sure many people have asked themselves similar questions in their journey through life . It's also very sad to read at some points about the racist verbal abuse he experiences while growing up as an immigrant in London. So have a read of this book which is available at local bookstores and as Imran mentioned on the show this morning, he is working on the sequel to this book which reveals the experiences which lead him to being the gentleman he is today.

Now that is a book I am looking forward to read. Don't take too long to write it!

Imran autographed my copy of his book and I also gave him a copy of my Dansa book.

Go to the NTV7 breakfast show Facebook page to find out how you can win one of five autographed copies of the book too.

Next memoir I want to read is the one by Grace Coddington- Vogue's legendary fashion editor. Have to order it online soon.

My baby Ghibran and I are in the March 2013 issue of Keluarga magazine. He was a very good boy during the photo shoot. He didn't cry at all so it didn't take that long to do the photos. Proud mummy !

'treasure' hunting with Ben

While on another day of shooting with Ben Ariffin in Penang , we followed him as he went 'treasure hunting' for more items for his toy museum and antique / vintage shop. He purchased a whole box of toys from one of the sellers at a flea market and later at his museum he went through them separating the ones he wants to keep and the ones he will sell.

I also found a little doll where the head, arms and feet are carved out of wood. We believe it is from Indonesian. I just bought it cause I thought it was kind of cute and I haven't seen anything like it before.

And when I visited Ben's shop, I found this gorgeous samsonite beauty case, believed to be from the 50's. The colour will match my room so that's why I bought it. And also cause I like vintage stuff too.

I will update you when this episode goes on air for magseven so you can watch it and see Ben and his fabulous toy museum.

Look for 'Ben's vintage toy museum' on Facebook for updates. :)

Shooting at Ben's Toy Museum in Penang

On my last trip to Penang my husband found this fantastic little toy museum. Owned by Ben Ariffin who has collected a fabulous variety of toys over many years, I really enjoyed seeing everything. So I contacted Ben and with open arms he accepted my idea of featuring him in an episode of Magseven. Back in Penabg now and enjoying following him around as he searches for more treasures for his museum as well as his antique shop.

SWATCH watch for Chinese New Year of the Snake 2013

I have just started rediscovering the funky styles of SWATCH watches. When I was still in school, a SWATCH was THE COOLEST watch to have and everyone wished for one for their birthday and if someone was lucky enough to get one, they would definitely be showing it off in school as soon as they could.

With Chinese New Year coming up very soon, in conjunction with the year of the water snake, SWATCH has released a beautiful unisex watch.

The design is inspired by The Legend of the White Snake. This legend is one of the most famous tales that has captured the imagination of people for over a thousand years. I will share with you the story as written in the booklet that comes with the watch.

'the tale goes that a thousand year old white snake who through centuries of meditation and self discipline, has managed to attain human form disguised as a beautiful woman. She meets a green snake who causes disasters in the area she lives. White snake defeats green snake and develops a bond with her.

In a visit to China's famous West Lake, together with her soul sister, white snake meets her life savior's reincarnation, Xu Xian. Xu is a charming young scholar and becoming husband and wife soon after falling in love at first sight. Soon after white snake becomes pregnant. As their happy life together begins, an evil minded monk named Fa Hai who will not allow the coexistence of human and evil spirits, tries to separate them and traps white snake under the Leifing Pagoda at the bank of the West Lake. After that, Xu becomes a monk and prays for white snake everyday.

Many years later, after gaining the title of first honored imperial scholar, white snake's son offers offers sacrifice for his mother in front of the Leifing Pagoda. God is moved by his actions and makes the pagoda collapse, which enables the family to reunite and live happily ever after. '

If u look closely at the face of the watch you will see that one hand is shaped like a green snake and another like a white snake. A nice touch inspire by the story.

SWATCH watches become collected items over time and special editions like this one are must haves for any SWATCH lovers collections.

You will be seeing me wearing this watch while I am hosting The Breakfast Show on NTV7. :)

Transferring...

Shooting for Magseven has started again. This season all will be shot in High Definition. After first two shoots, I'm now transferring the visuals to my new 1 terabyte hard drive. All new leaning experience. Before this, I was just using tapes. Changing with the times. :)
