me.... cooking?!

These pictures were taken at the Maggi booth at the last Jom Heboh at Bukit Jalil... and I had to cook! For anyone who has seen how I move in a kitchen they will know what a disaster this is! But surprisingly with the expert Maggi chef with me, I managed to cook 3 dishes - nasi goreng, kicap ayam and udang cili. And I didn't burn the food!

more deaths..

Last week, my colleague who was my producer for the business program I was involved in last year titled 'Stockwatch' told me to read the newspaper about the death of one of the analysts we regularly interviewed. His name, Choon Khuat Hock. A really nice man who we always looked forward to seeing. Worse still, his death is a suspected murder case. My condolences to his family and colleagues.

Then on Friday, one of my husband's cats who was sick for a while died. I had to call my husband to inform him and bury the cat with my sister in law. Not a fun thing to do.

And then yesterday, I heard that Yanie, one of my dear friend's, Vernon aka Mr Manager and Ning's former artiste passed away due to a lung tumour.

Sigh, and yet life goes on for everyone....

'not in the mood' is not a good excuse...

Yesterday towards the end of the day, about the time I have to get ready to go for bootcamp training, i was sooooooo not in the mood to go. I felt really comfortable sitting in the air-conditioned office working on my laptop.
But then I reminded myself, 'not in the mood' is not a good excuse for not going to training...
so very reluctantly, I packed up my stuff and drove to the training field.
And the session was really hard.
But all of us in the group survived. As we always do.
And I am surprised at how much more I can do now compared to when I started to 2 and a half months ago.
As one of my trainers told me before, 'there is no way you cannot benefit from exercise'.
So I will continue to persevere. Eventhough there are times when I may not be in the mood.

hmmmmm...

I found this photo of Victoria Beckham online taken at one of the Oscar's parties. Hmmmm... this dress is from her latest collection and generally I like her designs but this one looks a bit bland to me. Not sure about it... Anyway, she still looks good.

an old pic..

I was browsing through jay ismail's facebook album when i found this picture he took of me. Would be about 2 years ago now.

My favourite Oscar's red carpet looks....

Yes, I know I am always attracted to the sequinned and embellished dresses. I can't help but wonder how much this dress weighed. I have a fully sequinned baju kurung which weighs 3kg so I think dress will be about 4kg because of the train at the back.

Jennifer Lopez looks like she has definitely lost all her preganancy weight. I love this dress eventhough is could look like a wedding cake but I think she made it work.

I like this dress but I think the colour is a bit pale for Demi Moore. But hey, how old is this woman? Isn't she getting close to 50? She looks fantastically fabulous. If I look half as good at her age I will be so happy. But she does work out a lot and there were stories at one point that she only eats raw food. I would love to know what her beauty secrets really are!

Interview on BFM 89.9 The Business Station

When I checked my phone after I finished bootcamp on Monday evening, I noticed a few messages on my phone from friends, all saying they were listening to me on the radio.

I was interviewed on BFM 89.9 The Business Station and I must complimemt the deejay who interviewed me. She was very organised and prepared for the interview and had done her homework prior to meeting me. A real professional.

To listen to the podcast of the interview, please click here. or go to bfm.com.my and enter my name in the 'search the site' section on the right hand side of the website.
I chose all of the songs they played during the interview too. :)

cage rest for six weeks..

I knew something was terribly wrong with Lord Derbyshire when I saw him trying to walk baack home but his legs were dragging behind him. I took him to the vet and they confirmed what i thought. He has a fractured hip and needs cage rest for 6 weeks. My poor Lord Derbyshire. What is so cute though is that Duke was so curious as to why Lord was in the cage and still tried to play with his big brother.

Sigh... Another injured cat and this one will take a long time to heal.

Butterflies

I took this video at the Penang Butterfly Farm over the Chinese New Year weekend. If you are ever in Penang, you must make a trip there. It's very pretty. As you walk around the enclosed garden, hundreds, maybe even thousands of butterflies of all sizes and colours fly around you freely. Enjoy the video! I felt like the atmosphere was something out of Alice in Wonderland.

alexander mcqueen commits suicide at age 40

As I was browsing the news on the net, I stumbled upon the horrible news that the fantastic designer Alexander Mcqueen commit suicide at age 40.

It seems the death of his mother only about a week ago was too much for him.

I hope he has found the peace he was looking for.

Below are just some of the many beautiful clothes he designed in his short life.

What happens at Bootcamp?

I have had a few questions from readers asking me what is Bootcamp like and what happens during training session?
Well, the best way I can describe it is that it is like the exercise routines and circuits they do in the tv show 'The Biggest Loser'.
We start with a warm-up, which consist of jogging, sideway gallops, walking lunges and big arm circles. The we break up into 3 groups and do different exercise sets. When we finish with one instructor, we move onto the next.
During my first bootcamp session, I really thought I was going to die after the warm up. 3 weeks later of 3 sessions a week, I can feel a big difference in my fitness level. I still think i look like a dying squid sometimes (seriously, kadang-kadang rasa nampak macam sotong nak mampus)
but I have no choice but to keep going.
The biggest benefit of bootcamp training is that I feel you get better results than if you just go to the gym. There is no way you will push yourself this hard at the gym.
I haven't checked if I have lost any weight yet but when I asked one of the trainers about how much weight I can expect to lose, he replied, 'you probably won't lose that much weight according to the weighing scale. The reaon for this is because your muscles and bones will become stronger and more compact thus weighing more than fat. But you will tone up, become a lot stronger and fitter.'
And my favourite trainer via dvd Tracy Anderson has just launched 5 new workout dvd's, but I will only receive them sometime in February.
Doing bootcamp training is good but I still feel I need to do more stretching and toning exercises on other days of the week. I haven't done much additional workout stuff besides bootcamp training this month but my plan is to include doing the new tracy anderson dvd's on my days off for better results.
Bootcamp trainin focuses a lot on cardio, endurance and working the large muscle groups. Tracy Anderson workouts focus on smaller hard to reach muscles. So my personal logic tells me that i need to work my muscles in as many different ways as possible.
Hope this helps!
