Sex and the City movie..

The premiere of this long awaited movie by many was just held in London. I am sooooo looking forward to seeing the movie here. I am very curious to see all of the clothes and styling in the movie. From some of the pics I have seen on the internet, Carrie Bradshaw seems to wear even more outrageous combinations than ever before. I am guessing the creation on her head is by Phillip Treacy.

Thank you to everyone who has emailed me for the autographed photo. I have replied to your emails just so that you know that I received it. I am getting everything organised as quickly as I can! I have enjoyed reading your emails. Many of you are silent readers who have never come forward before and I am so glad you are doing so now. I will add your blogs to my regular readers link list on the side bar of this site as soon as I can.

I have also received many comments saying you have seen me at KLCC, or an event..the most recent one, I was seen busy choosing chocolates at the Paragon in Singapore.... so obvious I'm slacking up on my diet kan! Anyway, point is, don't be shy to come up and introduce yourself. I would love to meet you. Doesn't matter how occupied I look choosing chocolates or shoes or clothes or books.....or whatever...

Look forward to hearing from more of you!

And Lord Derbyshire seems to be developing his own fan base. To view a little feature of him on CLEO'S blog, just click here

Cameronian Arts Awards

"Oh wow! You totally look like a vintage 40's catwoman..like in a vintage Noir film!" said Rohaizad as soon as he saw me dressed as my interpretation of catwoman for the superheroes themed Cameronian Awards at the Mandarin Oriental last night.

I bought the mask and cat's ears in Singapore on Friday. I went down for a meeting to plan one of our shooting locations in the next round. I just happened to walk into Far East Plaza (I think) and found a shop with all kinds of weird masks on display out the front of the shop. Within a few minutes, I was walking out the shop with the mask and the ears...The simple black dress is the same one I wore in my photo shoot with Jay.

I was totally expecting to see all kinds of superheroes at the Mandarin Oriental last night. But, I was pretty much the only person in costume. (?????!!!!) I found that quite disappointing. I really wanted to see LOTS of people dressed up in costumes. Is it really that hard to make just a little bit of effort to follow a theme? I did think what the Rhythm in Bronze group did was cute. They all wore t-shirts with a superhero picture or logo on it.

Sean Ghazi and Liza Hanim started the awards show with a very sexy performance.

Pat Ibrahim and Rohaizad presented the awards in the Theatre category. Pat first started training me as a performer when I was 14 years old. When I started doing shows at TV3 such as Anugerah Juara Lagu, he was the choreographer. Now, you will see his creative genius in productions such as Puteri Gunung Ledang the musical and P.Ramlee the musical. I love working with Pat and the last time we performed together was at Istana Budaya about 3 years ago in a production called Emas 10. I hope it's not too long before we can do something together again. Rohaizad is now based in Singapore and a production he directed called Ops Ophelia I appeared in the video as part of the performance. I had to "drown" several times in a swimming pool.

Tony Eusoff and Mia Palencia presented the awards in the Music Category.

And Pang who runs the art space called the Annexe Central at Central Market and myself presented the awards in the Dance category.

All of the presenters were given front row seats with our names on it.

From left to right, Rohaizad, Pat, Mia and Pang...

Some familiar faces at the event included Nell Ng, Harith Iskandar, Afdlin Shauki, Chedd Yusof and Melissa Saila.

The cast of P Ramlee the musical receiving award for Audience Choice in the Theatre category. Datin Seri Tiara gave a thank you speech.

That's Adlin who won best original script and best director for P. Ramlee the musical.

There was an after party but as always, there was no food, or if there was I didn't see it, too crowded and limited drinks served. So I said my good byes and went home.

When I reached home, Lord Derbyshire looked absolutely stunned when he saw me.

"Why.....why.....why do you suddenly have ears like me?!" I could see him thinking to himself.

I really wanted to take a picture with each of them but it was difficult considering Lord was more interested in having some kind of WWF wrestling match with Tippex.

But I somehow managed to get a photo with each of them.

I wonder if I will ever get a chance to wear those ears again......

Sunday....

Tonight is the Cameronian Arts Awards at the Mandarin Oriental where I will be presenting an award in the dance category. The theme is superheroes and I finally have my outfit put together. I also bought a new pair of shoes for the event which has broken my 7 month record of not buying any new shoes. Some parts of my outfit will be familiar to you.

Come back tomorrow (Monday) for pictures....

boredom...

As I was walking around the shopping centres, I suddenly felt bored...very bored.... None of the clothes were that interesting. I feel like I've seen it all before. There is nothing exciting. And there are sooooo many striped tops around, in every possible colour combination. All of the shoes seem to have horrible shapes. As I look at all the people walking through the shops and walking down the street, and everyone's dressing is so similar. Almost clone like. I found myself desperately wanting to see someone wearing something totally unusual.

I feel so uninspired, but I want to be. I am looking for great inspirations. Maybe I need to look deeper within myself.

8 random facts/ habits

I received a comment saying I've been 'tagged' which means now I'm supposed to write 8 random facts/ habits about myself..... hmmmm..... ok..... here it goes..

1 - I don't drink alcohol. I don't smoke. I don't do drugs. I shop instead. Seriously, if you don't do all of those 3 things, you will have so much more money to shop with.

2 - I like my wardrobe to be colour co-ordinated... and it is...

3 - I love coffee table books. I have so many. They are all photography books, about art and fashion. Every night, before I go to sleep, I look at them and get ideas for photo shoots.

4 - I have a big plastic container where I put all of my coins in at the end of every day. Once it's full, I donate all that money to charity. You will be surprised at how much money you would have saved up if you do the same.

5 - I used to watch The X-Files. Remember that series? Now I'm a regular viewer of all 3 CSI seasons.

6 - I like see through transparent umbrellas. I don't have one though. I would like to get one. Then I will stand out in the rain and look up to watch the rain fall onto the umbrella. Anyone know where to buy one of these?

7 - I love barbie dolls. And I still have some. If my barbie dolls hadn't perished in Highland Towers I would have kept them til now. I would like to have the Kebaya barbie dolls that were sold a few years ago. They don't sell them anymore. Anyone know where I can get one?

8 - I love mermaids, and I wish I could be one sometimes. The closest I can be though is by having waist length hair. Which is why I refuse to cut it. I must achieve mermaid length hair!

.......

I don't really have any photos to upload but I do have lots to tell about what happened over the weekend during Jom Heboh Perlis.

We left Sri Pentas by bus at about 9am on Friday. A few hours later I started to feel ill. I really hate getting sick while travelling. I kept hoping it wouldn't get too bad. But I kept getting worse. When we stopped at a public toilet on the way, I almost threw up in the sink and my face was pale. My hair was starting to resemble a bird's nest again and generally I looked and felt absolutely terrible. In the public toilet, 3 teenage girls were standing behind me, looking at me. Suddenly one of them said,

"Kakak ni Sasha Bashir kan..yang host Explorace tu dulu kan?"

Aiyoh... to make matters worse, she was holding her handphone and from experience, when someone approaches me holding their handphone that way, they usually want to take a picture with me. I smiled...and said yes, I am Sasha Bashir, even now when I'm sick... After looking at me for a few seconds, she put her handphone back in her pocket... I think she changed her mind about taking a picture with me... I don't blame her...

When we arrived at the Jom Heboh Perlis location, I took a few steps away from the bus, and suddenly the hot sun was just too much for me. I started throwing up.. in the drain.... great... And then I suddenly remembered I was rostered to host the Pagi@JomHeboh segment the next morning. At that point, I had no idea how I was going to get through it.

Next morning, I hosted with Zakiah and Azura. I hosted all of the booth segments which meant I had to do a lot of running. At one point, I finished one segment and the last thing I heard Ally Iskandar who was producing the show say to me through my earpiece was "Ok Sasha, commercial break now, 2 mins, run to the Hotlink booth... NOW!"

So I ran across the field. I'm telling you, it really was at the other end... When I got there, as soon as I put my ear piece in, I literally only had a few more seconds to go til we were live on air again. Talk about adrenalin rush... I don't know how I got through that morning segment considering how horrible I felt the day before.

Because I was still feeling a little queasy from my little throwing up episode the previous day, I barely ate on Saturday, which proved to be a blessing in some way. Because on Sunday morning, almost everyone involved in Jom Heboh got some level of food poisoning. Many charcoal pills and other pills to help cope with food poisoning were consumed that morning. Luckily I was ok.

I got another idea to do a photo shoot with Jay. 4 different looks. portrait shots. When he came to my house briefly yesterday, I showed him and told him the ideas... One of the things I love about Jay is that not only is he a great photographer, he's very enthusiastic about doing photo shoots and trying new ideas. After I showed him what I would like to do, he straight away said, "Cool! I like it! When do you want to do this?" .... I love working with people like Jay... There are still many more photos from my previous Sunday shoot I did with both him and Aiemax..will put them up as soon as I get them.

Til then, there is more work to be done...

We hoped that having Lord Derbyshire neutered would calm him down a little bit. WROOOONG! He is still driving all of us crazy! I pity Joberg and Tippex the most. Tippex has had to hide behind the microwave so that Lord won't get near him. And Joberg and Tippex sometimes look at me and I can tell from the expression on their face that they are thinking, "Is he here? Is it safe for us to walk around? Why does he have to be here?"

When Lord can't find the others he looks at me.."Where is everyone? I want someone to play with! Why doesn't anyone want to play with me?!"

Aduh!!!!

the past one week...

(this post is a combination of things that has happened over the past week.)

Last Friday, I got the biggest surprise of my life when I went down to the kitchen in the morning. I found my brother who is studying in Australia standing there. He had just arrived on the morning flight. The only person who knew he was coming back was my father and he was only back for two nights, but for a very special reason. Last weekend, my dear parents celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Yes, 30 years!!! I was so happy to see him and didn't feel like going to the office after that cause I would rather spend time with my brother.

My sister and I really wanted to do something special for my parents to celebrate this very special and rare occasion. So we invited over our closest family friends to our house and arranged everything for them. It was a very fun and happening night. My sister's friend has an amazing talent for making customised cakes and she made this cake especially for my parents. Each individual orchid on each cupcake was individually hand made! She is an artist I tell you! And there is a reason I requested orchids. My mother carried orchids when she got married.

The two figurines represent what my parents looked like when the got married 30 years ago. we don't have any photos of my parents on their wedding day. everything was lost when our apartment in Highland Towers collapsed. I was so sad about that because it would have been so nice to display pictures of their wedding at our house that night.

I have the greatest admiration for my parents. I can only imagine the sacrifices they have made for the family and each other. And my father gave the most touching speech about how he met my mother and since the first time they had dinner together, they have always been together unless unavoidable circumstances kept them apart. My parents don't even have their original wedding rings anymore. They were stolen when our old home was broken into. But that doesn't really matter does it. Cause a marriage is not about rings or photos. It's about love, commitment and sacrifice. And I see all of that in my parents.

That same weekend, Lord Derbyshire was sent to the vet to be neutured. He was so upset when he was in his cage in the car on the way to the vet.

When he came home the next day, he was a little grumpy, not that I blame him, so to try and make him happy, my sister and I fed him some tuna.

He saw us putting it away in the fridge after giving him some so he decided to sit in front of the fridge so that he could make sure he wouldn't miss out on asking anyone who went to the fridge for some more tuna.

He gave up after a while and went back to his usual spot near the big cushion.

And there was a little 'confrontation' between schizo and Lord Derbyshire

.

Schizo - just because you are sitting on a chair and I'm sitting on the floor, does not make you the boss around here... you want to avoid getting whacked, you better understand that...

Joberg stayed out of he way by just staying in her new favourite spot... a basket on one of the kitchen high chairs. No one else and nothing else is allowed to be in this basket. I once put my notebook in her basket and she refused to get into the basket until I took it out. Sorry Joberg...

Since my brother was back in town, he came with me and my sister to the GLAM anniversary party at the Borneo Rainforest Cafe in Sunway. I wore my canary yellow tiered dress to the event and added one of the gorgeous Odyssey necklaces from the shop OLA in Bangsar Village II. Also at the event was my Zairin who owns OLA. We were wearing very similar necklaces and bracelets!

The gorgeous girls who graced the cover of the April issue of GLAM looked as stunning in real life as they did on the magazine cover.

Trying to find our way home after the event was an event in itself too...

Sister - so how do we get home?

Me - go back the same way we came I suppose...

Brother - Hang on, what happened to the bridge that I remember seeing here on our way here ?! It's gone! I need to get on that bridge!

Me - what bridge? Just go straight lah!

Brother - I don't remember there being a toll here either.... Are you sure we're going the right way?!

Sister - you drove here.. just drive back the way we came..

After driving for a while...

Sister - Hey, that building looks familiar... where are we now?

Me - Yeah, that building is familiar... I think we're going the right way home... hey, it's another toll... Is this the Subang toll?

Brother - Yeah.. this is the Subang toll...

Me - How on earth did we get here?!

Brother - Does it matter? We're here now.. we can find our way home safely now cause we actually know where we are!

This is not the first time this has happened to us... we're hopeless together I suppose...

A few days ago, while on my way to a company launch in town, I stopped by Istana Budaya to see my former colleagues who are still friends and just to say hi. We only spent about 10 minutes together but we made a lot of noise and laughed a lot. We used to spend so much time together... miss you guys...

This weekend I will at Jom Heboh in Perlis. If any of you are in Perlis, do come by and say hi!

Launch of P&G Beauty Hair Spa

Last night I attended the launch of the P&G Beauty Hair Spa at the Pavillion. One of the first few familiar faces I saw when I arrived was Daphne Iking who looked fabulous as always.

Me - Why are you complaining you are so fat after giving birth?! You look great!

Daphne - Got lah! HERE! (she says while poking her non existent stomach)

Me - Stupid woman....

She was standing by backstage with several other familiar faces in gorgeous gowns.

As part of the event there was a fashion show with clothes by Khoon Hooi and Syaiful Baharim.
Khoon Hooi's clothes were fun with blocks of colour and a little bit funky.

For me though, as someone who always prefers long flowing evening wear, I really loved Syaiful Baharim's creations. I must wear one of his pieces sometime.

There were many P&G products on display and of course that includes the range of OLAY products.

The P&G Beauty Hair Spa will be open today (Friday), Saturday and Sunday at the Pavillion. If you have the chance, you should go and check it out!
