Congratulations Aizeela!

Congratulations Aizeela from Sungai Petani, Kedah who answered the answer to my question correctly...
"Serlahkan kecantikan bersumberkan rahsia alam"
and who's email arrived in the email in box first....
You will be receiving this bag soon..
To all the others who tried, please don't give up and try again!
I'm trying to do more of these in the future so keep coming beack to this site and keep watching "Beauty Secrets from the East"!

WOW!

I just saw this pic on www.vogue.co.uk, as one of the dresses at the Elie Saab couture fashion show.

Wow!!!

If I ever get married, I want to wear a wedding dress like this...

a black Zara dress

Hmmmmm...
Yesterday I saw a black Zara dress....

Today, I went back to try it on because I couldn't stop thinking about it and wondered how it would look on....

Now that I have tried it on, I still can't stop thinking about it....

Sigh...

Wondering if I should go back and get it..

It reminds me of these Anna Sui dresses from their Fall collection... except the one at Zara is sleeveless and doesn't have the white collar..
I've already though of about 4 different ways I can wear it..

Hmmmmm... thinking... thinking....
Wishing money will fall down from the sky so I can go and buy it!

Problem is, if I do buy it, then the total number of black dresses I have will become 22!!! Yes.... 22! I remember a time where I didn't have even one black dress...

Beauty Secrets from the East - India

Incredible India!

In this next episode of Beauty Secrets, we highlight our trip to India..

It was absolutely fantastic.

I have always loved sarees but never bought one because I have no idea how to tie them so I'm terrified they will come undone and just fall down! The thought of all that fabric falling off me makes me cringe.

But my producer for the show really wanted to shoot me wearing a saree...

So we went to a shop, bought one and got the sales girls to teach me how to do it up...

"Belajar betul-betul! Esok you kena ikat sendiri untuk shooting!" (Learn properly! You're going to have to tie it all up your self tomorrow for shooting!) says the producer

And surprisingly, I learnt how to do it myself and could row a boat while wearing it and it didn't come undone either!

So now that I knew how to tie a saree myself, I bought 4 before I left! Some very Bollywood ones too! Haven't had a chance to wear them yet....

One of the places we stayed at is an old house in Cochin known as Koder House.

We also stayed on a house boat for one night which was amazing....

And of course their Aurvedic treatments were so relaxing...

While I was there, of course I bought a lot of local things. One of them was this bag.

A really colourful bag which I bought from a roadside stall to keep my things in while shooting.

Regular viewers of my show by now should have noticed that I say the same last line at the end of every episode.

After the India episode, email me at sasha_a_b@yahoo.com what is the last line/ tagline of every show, your full name, IC No, handphone number and address and if you've answered correctly, I will send you this bag!

I'm serious! Exactly the one you will see me carrying in a few scenes on the show.

You only have one hour after the show ends to email me the correct answer (9pm).

May I just clarify to my colleagues and friends at TV3 and Media Prima, this is for non employee viewers only. Thank you for understanding :)

I hope you enjoy watching the India episode of "Beauty Secrets from the East", on tonight, Monday 30th July, at 7.30pm, exclusively on TV3.

I look forward to receiving your emails.

WAO exhibition at Rimbun Dahan

Last night (Saturday) I went to an art exhibition held at Rimbun Dahan to raise funds for the Women's Aid Organisation.

I chose to wear
A ruffled skirt from Zara (on sale..yahoo!), a long sleeved top which I bought for about 5 ringgit somewhere, a tan belt with diamante buckle found in a shop at One Utama and carried my Jimmy Choo bag...I felt like a living barbie doll in this outfit, probably cause of the ruffled skirt, but I like barbie dolls and also wished that the clothes I put on my barbie dolls as a kid were for me....

My favourite pieces at the exhibition were these mugs painted by artist Sandra Knuyt.

If I could, I would have bought them all!!!

The following is my favourite..

I found these two pieces wuite disturbing, however unfortunately they do reflect the life that some women live.... alone, without a voice and bound by circumstances...

Here are some of the other paintings on display that caught my attention......

There was also a beautiful performance by Rhythm in Bronze.

Spare a thought for women who are not as lucky as some of us...

self portrait painting? - updated-

Above is picture of the painting at my friend's house which I told you about before and how I think it's a self portrait painting which I did without realising it...

What do you think?

Jimmy Choo

Just a few hours ago was the launch of the new Jimmy Choo boutique in Malaysia.

This glitzy event was held at the Mandarin Oriental.

I chose to wear a beautiful maroon velvet corset I bought in London almost 4 years ago, black Dolce Gabbana pencil skirt, bronze Jimmy Choo evening clutch, a huge diamante necklace and one black and one red shoe...

Yes...one of each....

I did it on purpose because really, wearing exactly the same shoes on both of your feet is soooo common and acceptable.... I just want to try something different...

I even have a logic to why my left foot wore the red shoe... your heart is on the left side of your body, your heart pumps blood and blood is red....

I know some of you reading this will think I'm nuts but that's ok.... There are MUCH bigger problems in the world than wearing different coloured shoes on each feet.

The event had so many famous faces and people that I just could not take pictures of all of them..

But of course I took pictures of the models and their shoes and bags....

All the women kept staring at the shoes and some men looked worried.. probably wondering if they were going to have to buy any for their wife/ girlfriend/ partner...

As much as I love the gold and the mirrored silver ankle boots, I wouldn't invest in them.. mainly because I don' know how much longer this high metallic mania is going to last...

If I'm going to spend so much on one item, I want it to be classic design but with still something unique to it or a little sparkle....

My personal picks are as follows....

these boots are the same design as the silver ones but because it's black, it's a more classic style that will last.

I will never give up the bling bling details in my wardrobe! I shouldn't wear these in front of my 'bling bling baby' kitty kat Joberg because based on past experiences, I know she will try to pull off the diamantes!

and this bag is just gorgeous..

Aiyoh Madonna!!! DEFINITELY NOT your best...

When I read that Madonna did a new song for Live Earth concert titled 'hey you' I was excited and straight away logged onto YouTube to watch and listen to it....

I'm very disappointed....

I'm a totally big fan of Madonna.... I don't agree with everything she's ever done but I admire her for doing what she wants and how she wants it...

The lyrics to this song are so blah and cliche...

"Hey you, don't you give up, there's still chance.... "First love yourself than you can love someone else, if you can change someone else you've saved someone else..." "Or if you can't love yourself, try love someone else..."

"keep it together, we'll make alright.."

"this could be good..."

PLEASE.. go to YouTube, key in Madonna Hey You and you'll find it...

Apa ni?

The chords pun very predictable and bland....

Sigh... I suppose we can't be great ALL THE TIME!

but I like her hairstyle and dress for the show.... only positive comment I can give on this one...

dita von teese

This glamorous woman has really found a style of her own by re interpreting the glamour of bygone eras....

another woman who's wardrobe I would love to raid...

Yes, I know she's doing a bit of a geisha white face, black eyeliner look.... can look a little overdone while she's doing grocery shopping....

But let's face it, she stops traffic wherever she goes....

And there is nothing wrong with that!

ning and I.....years ago!!!!

I cannot believe I actually found this picture!

Vernon.... I found it! I found it!

This is a picture of Malaysian Diva Ning Baizura and myself taken about...... oh my.... I really have to think now..... well over ten years ago!

At the time this photo was taken, I was a dancer with Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina's dance company Kit Kat Klub and we were performing at Anugerah Juara Lagu at PWTC...

I remember Ning sang 'Curiga'... and I was blown away by her vocals.... As I write this I can still hear it now....

"Di sudut... memori duka.... AAAAAAAAAABAAAAADIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!"

I think that's the lyrics.....

Anyway, me being about 15/16 years old (yes, I was that young doing shows), I really wanted to take a picture with this beautiful girl... yes we were girls then.. definitely not women yet...

It was either Maple or Linda who took this photo...

I went up to her and just asked to take a picture with her.... and she was so sweet, even then...

I can't help but take a little sentimental trip down memory lane when I look at this picture...

We were both so much younger... just wanting to do what we enjoy... perform for an audience...

How much things have changed... I know I never imagined I would be where I am today...

I was an opening act dancer with TV3 all those years ago... And now, I'm a TV3 host....

Ning has gone on to become one of the best singers Malaysia has ever seen...

Ning darling, I think we've done ok for ourselves....

Let's hope we can do more!!!!

And isn't it nice to see that we actually do look better now!!!!

To any of Ning's fans reading this.. help me out please... what year did Ning 'Curiga' sing at Anugerah Juara Lagu wearing this orange dress? cause I really can't remember!

self portrait painting

Many famous artists have painted self portrait paintings..

Forms of expression of how they see themselves and how they may think the world sees them...

I never thought I would do a self portrait. But I think I have without realising it.

About a year ago now I did a painting of a woman's face in about 3 hours and gave it to a friend of mine. I didn't think much of it, but after visiting my friend's house several times and looking at it, I actually think it's a self portrait I did without realising...

I don't have a picture of it but over the next few days I will be visiting my friend again, so I will take a picture of it and put it up here...

In the meantime, here are some examples of self portraits that some famous artists are done. You will find it interesting how they are all so different. One artist may do several self portraits and all will have a different look and feel, depending on how they feel about themselves and how they view the world at the time..

Rembrandt

Matisse

Van Gogh

Munch

Frida Kahlo

This woman suffered lots of personal emotional trauma. She suffered very severe injuries in a bus accident which left her unable to have children. Her self portraits have a lot of depth and some are really quite shocking...

I would have put some of her more shocking self portraits here, but some of you may find them offensive....

For those who are interested, please go to this site to have a look

Picasso

One of my favourite artists. I love his work in cubism. Very interesting to see how he represented himself in different self portraits.
