Pictures while shooting singgah sahur in Pangkor

A really scary decoration at the entrance at one of the fishermen's houses.
I think it's a blow fish.

A really basic petrol station. no shell or petronas from what i could see.

Interviewing one of the fishermen

View from the fishing village

buying ayam percik at the ramadan bazaar which only had about 20 stalls.

yum yum

view from my hotel room

we also went to a balai bomba and this is what the inside of a fire truck looks like. this is where they sit and the tanks have oxyen which they wear if they need to go inside a burning building.

standing in front if the fire truck

at about 1 am, we boarded 3 fishing boats which took us out to the middle of the sea off pangkor island wherewe had sahur with the fishermen on the boat.

many were trying to control their sea sickness to avoid from throwing up in front of everybody.
I was ok, surprisingly! usually I am one of the first few to throw up! Just ask the Dansa crew!

Behind the scenes pics from photo shoot

the studio before we started

the stylist, Shah adding the accessories to the geisha wig

This is the actual geisha wig i wore while shooting Dansa in Japan.

some extra accessories i brought, just in case

The kimono on the right is also the one I wore while shooting Dansa in Japan and the one on the left is one I bought in the shopping centre next to the hotel we were staying .

I bought these umbrellas in the geisha area of Kyoto. I remember when I bought them, the Dansa crew asked me, 'You beli ni, you nak bawa pergi mana? Balik K.L still nak maintain jadi geisha ke?'

'Tak, nak beli just in case one day nak buat photo shoot.'

Well, today was that day and we used all of the umbrellas, kimonos and the wig I brought back from Japan.

Photos are due to be published in September.
Will share pics here when they are ready!

Crystal Renn - an inspiration

I remember flipping through the pages of a magazine and found myself staring at a girl who was not the usual super thin models that you see in magazines. I thought to myself, 'hmmmmm interesting... she looks good but I never thought a fashion magazine would use someone who is much bigger.... but she's a normal healthy size! '

I then found out that she is becoming a hugely successful and popular 'plus sized' model.

Oh my God, she is normal sized not plus sized!

I bought her book titled 'Hungry', a biography where she shares about how she was first spotted by a talent agency and said she would be a great model, BUT she would need to lose weight first. And so her struggle with anorexia began until one day, even after exercising 8 hours a day for months and eating not much more than lettuce and coke, she snapped and wanted to quit.

Below are pics of when she was anorexic

The 2 covers of her book

Luckily the agency recommended her to a plus sized modelling agency who nurtured her and look at her now. She even modelled for Karl Lagerfeld's lastest Chanel Fashion Show.

I am so inspired by her. I wish there were more models like here featured in magazines.

I'm loving the Gucci Bamboo Bag!

One of Gucci's icons is it's bamboo detailing. I noticed a few months ago the newly updated and relaunched look of one of it's classic designs and I love it! A while ago after a meeting at KLCC, both myself and the girl I had to meet went to Gucci just to look at everything.

We both love the bag, but alas..... at the moment, we can only look. :)

It comes in many different colours and leathers. I would love a dark blue crocodile one.

Lady Gaga

How would you describe Lady Gaga?

I don't know...
Insanely theatrical.... Instinctively Creative...
Whatever it is, I love what she does. I could never wear the things she wears. I love how she uses the red carpet as an extension of her stage performances.

Everyone tries so hard to be elegant. Starting to get boring.

Lady Gaga has brought back theatre to us.

Thank you!

At a wedding..

I was at a friend's wedding when I saw Jay, the photographer who was with me in Johor and Negeri Sembilan to shoot Dansa Season 1.

Whenever we see each other, he is sure to take a picture of me.

Dress from BCBG and the necklace I bought from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

I'm back!

I'm back! But now I'm sick!
I have a cough so when I talk, I sound like a man.
hahahahahaahahahahah!
It has been a tough, tiring and challenging few days for the crew but we survived as we always do, but it will take all of us a few days to recover. All of us definitely need a nice massage to relax our backs!
The visuals we managed to capture during these last few days are very exciting.
More locations to shoot after Raya.
Now, I need to get some rest before another photo shoot tomorrow.

my cute little duke knows how to get out of the cage!

I was driving Duke to the vet a few weeks ago and he was making a lot of noise in the cage, obviously not happy about being in there. Suddenly, he was quiet. I turned round to check and I was so shocked to see the cage is empty! Duke knows how to get out of the cage! So naughty....

Loco not so merajuk with Lord anymore

Loco was sooooooo merajuk when Duke came into our home that for a long time he refused to let any of us pat him. But now, finally and slowly, he seems to be more accepting.

What would you choose?

A while ago, I heard on the radio the deejays asking listeners this question.

What would you choose? Never being able to eat chocolate for the rest of your life or an unlimited fashion shopping budget?

As much as I loveeeeeeeee chocolate, I would choose the unlimited fashion shopping budget, because let's face it, chocolate is not good for you. The sugar and only heaven knows what other preservatives are in it are cause all kinds of health risks if eaten alllll the time.

What would you choose?
:)

The Lovely Bones book

So I did read the Lovely Bones book. As usual, there were lots of things that were not featured in the movie.

Such as Susie's mother has a very brief affair with the detective who is investigating the murder. The murderer Mr Harvey also murdered and kept the bones of the neigbourhood animals. Dogs and cats would go missing. He kept the bones in the basement too, where he kept Susie's body. He does this to prevent himself from murdering other young girls.

I also felt a great fondness for her brother, Buckley while reading the book. I didn't really notice him while watching the movie. In the book, he is a sweet boy, desperately trying to understand what's happening to the world around him and when he one day is going to use Susie's clothes as 'kain buruk' in the garden, her father has a heart attack cause of shock, and it's when the mother finds out about his heart attack that she returns. Remember how the mum runs away cause she can't deal with her grief.

So to my readers who read the book and watched the movie, what do you think? what differences did you notice? what details from the book do you think should have been included in the movie.

I think the part about the mother having an affair with the detective and how Mr Harvey also killed animals should have been included in the movie.

The Lovely Bones

I have always loved watching movies with a murder in it. I suppose that's why I love watching CSI and Midsomer Murders. I also love surrealism, where the lines of reality and fantasy become confusing. Artists that do this so well are Salvador Dali and others from his era.
One movie which combines both of these is 'The Lovely Bones'.
It has a murder in it but it is told in a different way. The girl who was murdered is telling you the story from heaven, and the surrealist visuals of her somewhere between heaven and earth is unpredictable and very engaging.
My niece who loves to read told me the book is really good to and has loaned me her copy to read, which I will probably do this weekend during my breaktimes at Jom Heboh.
Anyway, I think you should try and watch this movie. Below is a trailer.
