Kerastase Anti-Dandruff shampoo

 

With sweating from the gym and going having out door shoots, I have experienced the annoying little scalp problem known as dandruff. Argh ! And for those of you who get it too, you know it's not always easy to get rid of it. I have tried several different Anti-dandruff shampoo, none that worked really that well, but when I found out about the Kerastase Anti-Dandruff shampoo I knew I had to give it a try.

There are two types of the anti dandruff shampoo 

1 - Bain Exfoliant Purifiant Oily Hair Scalp

2 - Bain Exfoliant Hydratant Dry Hair Scalp

Because my scalps reacts differently to external conditions, sweating makes it oily and outdoor shoots makes it dry, I have tried both of these products.

Firstly, the design of the bottle makes it easy to use. You part you hair so you can see your scalp clearly, twist the top of the bottle a little bit then apply it in lines across your scalp. It's best to apply it onto a dry scalp, then massage in and use zig zag movements, then add a little bit of water, massage again then rinse.

You can tell it is a good quality product from the texture and just like the face scrub you should use about twice a week to exfoliate your skin, this shampoo also has little particles in it so it's a scalp scrub.

I noticed after using it even after just the first time, my scalp felt so much fresher and cleaner. Also when I touch it, my scalp feels softer and smoother. I know most of the time we don't notice someone's scalp, and we are so focused on how our hair looks. But we can't have healthy hair if we don't have a nice clean healthy scalp. So just like our skin, our scalp needs to be exfoliated and so far this is the only product I have found to be able to do this well.

Saturday Giveaway - The Body Shop Ginger Sparkle range

I remember when I was shooting Beauty Secrets from the East several years ago, I learnt that ginger is a very popular ingredient that is used in beauty treatments. You can cut it up, add warm water and drink it which is fantastic if your stomach is sensitive or has had a reaction to something you ate. This little remedy had saved me many many times !

For sore muscles, just rub some cut up ginger into the area, wrap up with some plastic wrap an leave it for about 20 minutes. Then wash off and I can also tell you from experience it works much better than other products like deep heat.

In all Asian cultures, keeping the body warm is very important to prevent illness and ginger is very good at that. It's also known to be able to "buang angin" or "Tarik angin".

So when I first saw this ginger sparkle range at The Body Shop, I was very excited ! Because I know what a wonderful beauty ingredient it is, but also a bit sceptical if it would work well in mass manufactured products like this.

However I have to say that I absolutely LOVE this range from them. Totally fallen in love with it. All of them give me this slightly tingly and warm feeling after using them. And the ginger scent is not too over powering. Just nice.

I also wish they had ginger body oil. *hint hint*. :)

Especially for Christmas there is this gift set available that comes in a really cute ginger bread man tin and in the set is a shower gel, soap, small body butter and body polish. I didn't buy this for anyone. I bought it as a present to myself ! Hahahahahahahah!

Jacksons Unity Tour in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

H&M in KL, Malaysia ! Anna Dello Russo and Maison Martin Margiela Collection

H&M is here in Malaysia!!! I'm sure many of you savvy readers know this already but I'm still excited about it ! Before this my only chance of getting anything from them is if I went overseas. I was there at the launch and it was sooooo packed ! 

Not long after they opened the Anna Dello Russo collection arrived and I was so looking forward to it. I LOVE Anna Dello Russo. She is fearless with fashion and such an icon. I looked at all the pictures online and waited for it to arrive.

I was dissappointed. Firstly the items Ireally wanted, the suitcase with matching make up box and the turquoise and gold cuff didn't make it here. And the items that did arrive I feel were too overpriced. Honestly, the quality I didnt think was worth the prices. So sad. So I bought...... nothing.... sigh....

The next collection to arrive is the Maison Martin Margiela collection. Again I checked online. Looked at everything. From what I understand none of the designs are actually new for H&M, they are merely re editions or remakes, done at a much cheaper price. However the much cheaper price is also still a bit expensive to me. So I didn't go on the first day it arrived like I did for Anna Dello Russo. I thought to myself that again I wouldn't buy anything.

Then suddenly one day my friend posted on facebook that she went to H&M and that the Maison Martin Margiela collection was on 50% off ! Now that's more like it ! So I went and had a look. 

I tried on this duvet coat and it was the strangest feeling. I felt like I was standing up in a really comfortable bed ! I told my sister about it and when she saw the picture, she said - it's as if there is no commitment to actually waking up in the morning ! hahahahahahahahah! well... yeah... 

As much as I love it where am I going to wear it ? To One Utama ? hmmmm...no... in the editing room ? I will fall asleep then and get no work done. 

I really wanted to get this suit set but the pants were all gone and the jacket didn't have my size. Sob !

I also really liked the candy wrapper clutches and shoes with the see through wedge heels. There were three colours, red, black and tan. ALL GONE ! SOB !

So I bought these three items. The  black dress and matching scarf print top and skirt. 

So who is next to create a line for H&M ? One rumour is that it is Givenchy. That would be fantastic ! However both H&M and Givenchy have denied it, so who knows.

Guess we have to wait and see. I just hope that the quality will still be good and the prices much more affordable than these previous two I have seen.

Baby friendly shoes from Zara

As all you mummies now, once you have a baby which means you now also have a stroller and baby bag on top of all your stuff too, wearing Louboutin style shoes is a disaster. So now whenever I see any nice wedges or flat shoes like these, I try and buy them because they are so practical. They remind me a little bit of grandfather bedroom slippers, but nevermind. I still like them. Zara has plenty of nice practical shoes at the moment so have a look if you are looking for any. :)

Saturday Giveaway - The Body Shop White Musk set

One of my all time favourite perfumes is White Musk from The Body Shop. I remember when I was still in school I would save up whatever money I had so I could buy it. I'm so glad it's still around until today. I have found that the best way to make the scent last all day is to shower with the shower gel, then apply the lotion all over your body and the final step is to spray on as much perfume as you want. :)

I never knew this before, but did you know that musk originates from the gland of the male musk deer? But in keeping with The Body Shop's policy of cruelty free products, they created a synthetic substitute for this perfume. 

So well done Body Shop ! Happy to know that I have loved a cruelty free product all these years.

As usual I had a very busy and exciting Deepavali.

I always love the decorations around this time. The picture above was taken at a Deepavali open house I attended at the Mandarin Oriental.

While I was there I someone wearing a very unique saree. It had Andy Warhol style portraits on it of Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai.

And this was my little boy in his Deepavali outfit. Off white kurta with gold sequins. Yes, I am introducing him to bling bling. How can you NOT wear a sequinned kurta on Deepavali ?!

And next year, I want to try and do a kolam. These were some of the beautiful kolam on display in the lobby of my office building. Everyone who walked past admired them and many were taking pictures too.

Reebok Marvel X Collection is here !!!

This afternoon, the much anticipated Reebok Marvel X Collection 

arrived in our Malaysian stores.

I visited my usual One Utama store and saw the display

 of five shoes from the collection near the front.

I immediately fell in love with the Black Widow design.

The shoes are comfortable and pretty stylish to me. 

Along with my Alicia Keys for Reebok shoes, 

these are also one of my favourites!

The shoelaces are a really nice bronze gold colour.

Now just have to think of an outfit to match with it. Hmmmm......
