A new painting...

Since I had a little bit of time over this long weekend, I decided to do a painting for one of my closest friends. It was her birthday a few moths ago and when I asked her what she wanted, she said the only thing she wants is for me to do a painting for her.

I know she really likes my interpretations of goddesses and their swirling hair so I did a version of that idea for her. This painting measures 2 feet by 3 feet.

She is overseas at them moment. So now I'm just waiting for her to come back so I can give it to her. I can't wait to see it hanging up in her office or apartment.

Before I could do this painting, I had to go and buy some new canvases and paint cause I don't have any more. While I was there I didn't just come home with some new canvases and paint. I also found near the drain a little black and white kitten.

He was covered in fleas, really dirty, thirsty and tired. After two days with me, he has no more fleas, fluffy fur that smells like flowers and has eaten more food than he has in his whole life. I haven't had a chance to take a picture of him yet. I will do so soon..

But he is not to stay with me. Next week when another friend comes back from London, this new little kitten is to stay with him. I will probably cry when he has to go, but I know he will be looked after well there too...

Jom Heboh Bukit Jalil

This last Saturday and Sunday was the last Jom Heboh for 2008. I usually do one or two live cross overs during Jom Heboh but this time I did four. It does make me nervous to do live cross overs cause there is not much room to make a mistake. And you have two cameras staring at you the whole time, just like in the picture above.

Below is one of the technical crew helping me put my earpiece into my ear. I always put it in my right ear cause I think I hear things a bit better in that ear. In this earpiece I hear instructions from the producer as to when I go on live, how much time I have left and when to start wrapping up the segment and link it back to Sri Pentas.

One of the guests on the live cross over segments was a very familiar man on my right..:)

roasting coffee beans..

i don't usually drink coffee, but while on one of our trips, I was taught how to roast coffee beans.

The beans are put in the funnel in the top, the big part in the centre is where it's heated then i pulled the lever and they all came out.

It smelt so good!

Hmmmmmmm.....

I do really like Pucci prints and I have been waiting for a chance to get a real statement pucci print. I am debating with myself whether the dress as seen in the above ad campaign for the fall winter 08/09 collection will suit me. I believe one has to be very carfeul when wearing printed dresses, especially one as colourful as this cause it could very easily overwhelm you. And I love how the hairstyle is very simple and elegant.

There are pros and cons to getting this dress and the reason is the same.

It's a pretty unforgettable dress.

So dear readers.... many of you are fashion lovers too and have given great opinions in the past.

So here we go again...

Do you think I could wear the dress in the Pucci ad campaign? Yes or no? And what about the styling? How would you style it?

Bukit Antarabangsa landslide...

When I woke up on saturday morning, i checked my emails and I received an email from a close friend with a link about the landslide that had happened at bukit antarabangsa just a few hours earlier.

The photos I have seen in the papers and the heart breaking stories I have read the past few days are all too painfully familiar to me. Regular readers of this blog, you know why. Because my family and I were one of the families affected by the landslide which caused Highland Towers to collapse almost 15 years ago. We lost our 3rd floor apartment and all our belongings in Block 1, the tower that fell. We also lost good friends and neighbours in the tragedy. I attended more funerals in December 1993 than I have my whole life.

My heart goes out to all the residents. I understand the pain, confusion, despair and hope you are all feeling.

I am deeply saddened. Nothing has been learnt in the past 15 years. The number of deaths will continue to rise and more people will suffer.

During this time, dear residents, you will find strength, courage and friends you will never knew you had and you will never forget. One day you will understand what I mean.

I could write a very long posting on what I think and how I feel.... but it will not change or undo anything that has happened. I cannot bear to look at the photos or read the stories. It breaks my heart too much.

Al- Fatihah

More travel pics...

The photo above was taken here in Malaysia and the picture below was taken overseas. I was nervous to hold the crab because it could have easily clawed my fingers off but director and producer Fadli insisted I do and Aiemax captured the moment.

Next posting will be pictures of Man fishing!

I just found this candid shot that Aiemax took of me while we were traveling shooting for the documentary. I was so cold that I just bought these pair of socks from a nearby market and put them on straight away...

At the Media Prima Screenings...

Another attempt to wear a day dress. It's by Cacharel but I really don't like the blue belt that came with this dress so I changed it to this one which I found at one of the shops in Sungai Wang.

Different functions, different outfits..

I've had several functions over the past week and i have tried to come up with a variety of looks.

Saturday night was a Bollywood themed celebration. I wore a saree I bought while in India while shooting Explorace Season 3 with jewellery I bought from Brickfields.

At this function all of the men were given turbans to wear and I wanted to try wearing one too.

Monday night was a wedding ceremony and I wore the Fendi skirt I wrote about in an earlier post. I wore it with a one shouldered top and vintage earrings, both which I bought while studying in Australia. Bangles from Brickfields. I have worn these bangles many times, they may be familiar to you now.. :)

Last night was a formal sit down dinner and I wore the dress I wore on the red carpet for Anugerah Skrin 2 years ago. I bought this dress while shooting Explorace in India too.

Last time I wore this dress I wore it with a big black choker from MNG and my hair was up. This time no necklace and hair down.

I remember when I was being interviewed by the Malaysian Women's Weekly for my cover story with them, the writer, Rina asked me "do you ever wear the same thing more than once?"

ABSOLUTELY! and there are good reasons why. Last time I checked, money doesn't grow easily on trees or fall out of the sky or come down with the rain. We have to work hard for it and when you have spent your hard earned money, it's a waste to only wear it once. What I do believe in though is not styling it exactly the same way twice. Change the hair and accessories every time and don't wear it to the same type of function. You can create totally different looks just by doing this.

I love the way this dress glitters. And it cost me less than RM 150. I remember we had just finished shooting and ony had about an hour to shop at a nearby underground shopping area. I found this dress in a very corwded hop with no changing room so I had to just pull in over my Explorace cargo pants and shirt and guess that the dress would fit me properly without the clothes underneath. Luckily, it fits me perfectly.

And for tonights opening gala of Malaysia International Fashion Week I combined two runway pieces. One is this Fendi skirt.

And I wore this Burberry top.

And this was the end result...

Saturday night is KL Film Festival and the theme is batik.... hmmmmmmm....

More pics from devil wears prada party

There was a fashion too as part of the devil wears prada event which was..... boring.....

I saw two people wearing shoes that live in my wardrobe too. Black Zanotti shoes...

And Stuart Weitzman Moonglo aka Cinderella shoes

Camelia wore the Zanotti shoes

And Marion Caunter was wearing the Moonglo shoes...

The crowd inside the ballroom...

There were many familiar faces in the crowd..

Food was only served at 3.30 am and it tasted so good... but then again, kalau dah lapar macam nak mati, makan pasir dengan lauk batu dan minum air basi dari kolam renang busuk pun sedap kan! :)

Overall though, this wasnt the best event i've ever been to..

:)

I wore LANVIN....

I wore the pink LANVIN dress with corset belt from bebe, zebra print shoes from Betts & Betts in Australia and vintage CHANEL handbag which is pretty much exactly the same color as the dress.

And no, I didn't cut my hair.... that is the same wig I wore to the Cameronian Arts Awards earlier this year. :)

(more pics coming from this event soon. really need to sleep now.....)

more stories on Style with Sasha

A few more stories have gone up on 'Style with Sasha'

To go to page with full listing, just click here

In reference to my previous post, the LANVIN dress seems to be the one winning votes to be worn to event Friday night.

I need to think about how to style it.

And I agree my hair shouldn't be left down, so have to think what to do instead.

This site receives thousands of readers a week, so if you would like to vote, there is now a poll on the right column.

There is also a Bollywood themed event on Saturday night and two formal dinners next week. I have to think about those two too!

For one of those, I am thinking of wearing the skirt in the picture below. It is a runway piece from the FENDI Spring Summer 2008 fashion show

But I only have the skirt, not the top or belt.

So I am still trying to figure out how to style it.
maybe with a corset and a big necklace.

Any suggestions?

What do you think? Lanvin dress or Dior new look?

To my dear readers,

I know many of you are fashion lovers and love dressing up.

This Friday night I have been invited to an event an the theme is 'Devil wears Prada'

So the dress code is to try and 'out fashion' and 'out do' everyone including yourself.

I have two options of outfits I want to wear.

One is the pink lanvin dress.

The other is a white with black lace Dior jacket inspired by Dior's iconic new look like the picture below. I have a skirt which looks like the one in the picture which i bought at H&M in London.

So what do you think, dear reader? Lanvin dress or Dior New Look?
