A night of nostalgia in Penang

I went to Penang this weekend for a charity event themed a Night of Nostalgia.

As part of this event, the book, "Nostalgic Penang' was launched. It is a really beautiful book with lots of pictures from around Penang. As my father is from Penang I brought one back for him and he thoroughly enjoyed looking at the pictures. Support local publishers and buy a copy!

The event was held at the iconic E&O hotel in Penang.

While I was there, I also visited the Peranakan Mansion, but I will put pics of that up tomorrow. :)

Day dresses....

I don't understand day wear. I'm either over dressed or under dressed. never just right.

One of my best friends has advised me to start trying to wear day dresses.

So instead of me wearing either black pants of jeans during the day all the time, to be a bit more feminine.

I have slowly started trying to buy some days dresses. Two people who's day dressing I like are Dita von Teese and Victoria Beckham. I prefer slightly flowy dresses though.


How these two always look so perfect is amazing.


This weekend i have to go to Penang for a charity event. I'm going to try and wear something a little more dressy for my flight there and back, not my usual jeans with ballet flats.

The best photo shoot ever!

On Monday I did a photo shoot with a local magazine.... and it was so much fun!

12 different outfits, all with completely different hair and make up too. We started at 8.30 am and didn't finish til 13 hours later.

So much make up was applied on my face and I'm sure we put an extra hole in the ozone layer from all the hairspray was used . In two looks, I not only have false upper lashes, but false lower ones as well. Never done that before. :)


It took me so long to take all the make up off later that night.

And this gives you an idea of what it feel like to have many people looking at you while doing a photo shoot.


We are not sure if the pictures are going to come out in the January or February issue of the publication. I can't wait to see the shots! I won't show you any more behind the scene shots cause it will just spoil the surprise when the actual pics come out. The guy on the far left of the above photo is Adam. He made this shoot happen. :)

This was the longest and hardest photo shoot I have ever done. But we experimented with many looks I haven't done before, and I am soooooo glad I was able to have a chance to be a part of this shoot.

I will give you a clue as to where the shoot was held.... Cindy Crawford (I love her!) did a photo shoot there too... Do you know where?

A visit to Dr Hasnul the vet

my 'children' were due for their check up and Tippex has been scratching his head so much lately that he has some bald spots on his head. Joberg conveniently disappeared so she didn't go. the two brothers shared a cage and they behaved surprisingly well.

Schizo was upset and terrified. We had to put her in a basket by herself cause she just hates the others. Despite being a very garang diva, she is very timid at the vet. I remember when I used to take her with Kira, I could put both of them in the same cage and she would hide underneath Kira. She would hide her head under his stomach.

Lord Derbyshire hid between the wall and cupboard when it was his turn. I had to pull him out.

They were all so happy to go home! So was I!

I wore a kimono which i got in Japan. Instead of wearing a traditional obi belt because I don't know how to tie one properly, I wore a men's tuxedo belt instead.
The pattern on it is so beautiful and a work of art.

problem solved...

I went to Brickfields today during lunch and didn't find anything. I stopped by another designer shop on the way back to the office and though they were more than willing to loan me something to wear for the event, they didn't have anything available as everything was either sold or had been worn to a big event before.

"why don't you go home and play dress up in your wardrobe. Surely you can find something!!!" says a close friend as we were having dinner....

When I came home, I had a shower then stood in my walk in wardrobe and started to think...

Since I don't have a glorious gown to wear, I need to create a look. A look I have never tried before.

Suddenly I thought of something.... AHA! YES!

I took it off the wall outside my room (some items in my wardrobe are on display) and tried it on. Then I started creating the look. I tried on several earrings, tried a few hairstyles and after trying several things, I now have my complete look ready for the red carpet of Anugerah Skrin.

It is comfortable, a work of art and because it is long I had to practise walking in it just now just to figure out how to walk in it without falling down.

Fadli, Man, Push and Aiemax...... you are going to find what I wear strangely familiar.... :)

wardrobe crisis...

I have been to almost 10 local designer boutiques this morning and nothing is grabbing my attention to be worn to Anugerah Skrin on Friday....

"Are you sure you have nothing in your personal wardrobe?!" asks a close friend of mine this morning.. "I find that hard to believe you know!"

I have looked but I think I have to go back again to my personal wardrobe and create a look.... Think outside the box a little bit...

And maybe make an emergency trip to Brickfields tomorrow morning... :)

Bebe store launch and last episode of 5 JINNGA

Midas Goddess is what the invitation card said for the dress code to the bebe boutique launch at one utama today.

As I was sitting in my car at the traffic lights wondering what to wear, I remembered a white CK dress in my wardrobe.

I wore that with my Coach gold necklace, gold bangles from brickfields and vintage dior bag.


The only thing I own from bebe is a black corset belt. I find most of the stuff at bebe too short or just too tight... i still prefer stuff that flows.


As you can see the model is trying to hold down her dress while she is walking.

Highlight for many at the event was the male models who modelled only jeans... :)


After this event, I went to dinner with the cast and crew of 5 JINGGA where we watched the last episode of the show together.

shooting 5 JINGGA was a totally new experience for me as it was my first tv drama ever and I am so glad i had a chance to be a part of it. I learnt a lot...

Wednesday - looking for a dress for Anugerah Skrin this Friday!

big gowns in a big house...

Big gowns in a big house with lots of different looks.... That is the concept for a shoot I have coming up next week. We had a meeting and recee of the location last week. There were 8 people at the meeting. Organising a good photo shoot can take a lot of people! On the day itself I think there will be about 10 people involved. Everyone is excited.. the location is historical and iconic, and local designers are being sourced for the most extravagant gowns.

I have a lot to prepare for the shoot too.

Anugerah Skrin is coming up end of the week. I still have nothing to wear!
